allen levi announces release of his
new CD
"People in My Town"
True to the title of the project, allen has written and recorded
eight songs about randomly-chosen people who live or work within
5 miles of his front porch and has compiled the music, along with
spoken segments by each individual, for an intriguing
visit with the good folk of Harris County, Georgia.
In the 68 minutes of recorded material,
you'll meet a D-day veteran, a retired newspaper carrier, a third
grader and her dad, a Vietnamese business owner, an 82-year-old
retired farmer, a seventh- grade school teacher and the owner
of a local soul food restaurant. The colorful monologs, and allen's
musical reflections, celebrate themes which occur
frequently in allen's writings -- that there are no ordinary people
and that "everything is a fingerprint."
If you've enjoyed allen's work in the
past, you'll find his venture
into slightly new territory a thought-provoking and enjoyable
listening experience.
