"No Ordinary People"

… folks I’ve met, stories I’ve heard, thoughts I’ve had

I’ve met some fascinating souls at home and in my travels. Even if their stories don’t all turn into songs, they "people" my prayers and paint my thoughts from day-to-day.

From time to time on this page, I want to share some of my friends, even my ‘one-hour’ friends, with you. I might do it in the form of interviews, songs, essays, pictures, however. The ones you hear or read about are probably not well-known; maybe not even little known. I just want you to hear their thoughts, their views, their stories as a reminder that, like yourself, they are worth listening to and visiting with.

The title of this page (which might one day be the title of a CD) comes from a writing of CS Lewis:

"It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or other of these destination. … There are no ordinary people. You have never met a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations – these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry snub, and exploit – immortal horrors or everlasting splendors."

If you enjoy this feature of the site, please let us know by posting your thoughts on our message board.  That will give us some idea as to this page's usefulness.

Allen comments on the newest installment:

"Allen Williams, guitar maker, is our new guest on 'No Ordinary People.' Allen is the founder of Baruke Guitars, lives in Gainesville, Georgia, is married and has two children. Recently, while children played outside (you'll hear them), he and allen visited to talk a bit about guitars, about vocation, and about King David's harp.

You can contact Allen Williams (and we hope you will, especially if you're looking for a great guitar to play) at www.barukeguitars.com

Enjoy the chatter, and thanks again for visiting allenlevi.com ...."
