In last month's letter (March 98), i told the story behind this song. It still needs some fine-tuning, but here's what i've got to date.

Undo the Fall (March 98)

I'm sure the water flowed most freely, with a ballerina's grace,
Making music like the angels, in the quiet forest space,
I'm sure the laurels and the lily, when the April rolled around,
Danced there in the sunlight, as it warmed the winter ground.

Then the wind blew strong, and the roots gave way,
and the trees came crashing down,
Now the water sits in a stagnant pool,
and the light can't reach the ground
But I think I hear the call, undo the fall …

Where the treetops block the current, everything gets trapped and jammed,
It's dingy as a dungeon, cause the water flow is dammed,
It's going to take a willing Hand to use a bit of force,
to make the stream a stream again, to let it run its course.

The work is slow and steady,
it will take some sweat and grime,
It's cut and drag and pile and burn,
and it takes a bit of time.

There's a sense of satisfaction at the moment that you see
the stagnant pool is broken up and the water's running free

Every heart is filled with darkness, tangled up within,
the branches block the current and the light cannot get in,
there is bitterness and poison and we cannot let it go,
there is love that longs to reach us but it finds no place to flow,
so it's cut and drag and pile and burn,
someone must take the chance,
to get through that entanglement,
and teach our souls to dance,
don't you think you hear the call, undo the fall,
even though your part is small undo the fall ….
